MF DOOM is the ultimate revolutionary. A subversive artist that bucked consumerism and the commercialization of Hip Hop throughout his career. The average consumer didn't get his music. You didn't hear him in the dance club or on commercial radio. He made revolutionary music that subverted consumerism. His music resonated with artists and revolutionaries and anyone searching for authenticity. We heard his music at underground Hip Hop shows and on college radio. This is the ultimate revolutionary act -- to be authentic and do what you love. This, in my opinion, is what makes MF DOOM such an important artist. He lived and created authentically and in doing so, he inspired others to do the same -- to be our authentic selves.
